A Rare 1 Goes Up For Auction

Filed in archive by philip on March 24, 2006

Ford GTX1
I can't even imagine what this one will go for when it reaches the RAMPlinks at the fourth annual Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Collector Car Event at the end of March. The Ford GTX1 (a GT "convertible") was revealed at last year's SEMA trade show and was an immediate sensation. This is the first production GTX1, serial #0001, a number that causes collectors to get a little silly. Considering that plus the fact that the GT's days are numbered, and adding in the current craze for exaggerated auction prices, it wouldn't surprise me if this car hits $1 million or more. The good news from the Auto Channel is that twenty percent of the proceeds will go directly to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
