BMW M5 versus Mercedes CLS55 AMG

Damn if the guys at Motor Trend aren't the luckiest SOBs alive. They have a road test up comparing the 2006 BMW M5 with its V10 engine to the Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG with its supercharged V-8. To me these cars aren't so much about luxury, as they are about performance. Both these beastly vehicles can rocket from zero to 60 in about 4.5 seconds. Keep in mind, these are both full-size
four-door luxury cars.
The quarter-mile times are good as well with the BMW coming in at 12.9 seconds at 114.9 mph, and the Mercedes turning in a time of 12.7 seconds and 113.6 mph. These massive beasts even turn the skid pad at three quarters of a G each. That's just plain wrong for cars this big.
