Britain really is the land of the motoring enthusiast. Where else on planet earth
would a simple track car looking like some Grand Prix racer from the 1930s actually be given the green light for mass (relative term here) production by Gov't safety inspectors? The soon-to-be-sold Caterham 7 Roadsport 150 packages a regular Ford (150 bhp) powerplant into a steel tube that sits on four wheels. The result is a £17,495 ($34,505) street rocket that will launch from standstill to 60 mph within a half second of the twice as costly BMW M5's time.
Still, with the Bimmer you actually get a roof. But with the Caterham you get unvarnished automotive sport born from old Blighty. Like I said, Britain really is the land of the motoring enthusiast.
