You've heard it all before; Ford vs Chevy, Mustang vs Corvette. Like the Hatfield's and McCoy's, it's nothing new, right?

Wrong.

I suppose you could say it's all in the presentation. For example, if I presented you with an off the shelf ford mustang and an Off the shelf Chevy Corvette, and asked you which was better, you would say the Vette. Unless you're an absolute Ford die-hard who will pick Ford even if it's a choice between a Camaro and a Focus.

For all intents and purposes, the stock Vette is better than the stock Mustang. Why? Because the Vette was built from the ground up to be a sports car, and it's built and designed by engineers who know how a car should drive. The Mustang just can't compare. It's not in the same class as the Vette. It's like comparing a Harley Davidson Sportster with a Kawasaki Ninja 1000. One is made for racing, the other clearly is not.

But if you take that Mustang to it's upper levels of performance, i.e. present a Cobra 500, you've probably got yourself a fair fight. You've got fairly even motors, with much better suspension on the Cobra as opposed to the Mustang. It would surely be a race worth watching.
