Denied Again. Hyundai Genus Not For Us

In plainer words it won't be sold in North America. And that's a downright shame, for the 5-door Genus is part wagon and part sports coupe, a delectable combination for those who need roominess and comfort but like the sporting dynamism of a coupe.
This is a true multi-use vehicle (please don't call it a crossover) featuring an integral hatch which can be lifted to reveal a retractable bench seat. The bench extends out to rest over the trunk sill and together with a sliding deck concealed in the bumper, forms a multi-use outside seating area. Power comes from a a 2.2 liter common-rail diesel with a 5-speed automatic and four-wheel-drive.
The designers must have drawn their influences from nature. According to Hyundai the Genus "has been defined with the free-flowing form of a wave... swept-back headlamps are similar to bird's eyes... the hood resembles the flight of an arrow... the interior's forms mimic the flowing nature of sand dunes." Oh, and the front is like the air intake of a fighter
plane.Save the poetry, Hyundai, and send us the car.
