Driving is Fun, Biking is Healthy, We Like Both

and in possession of a BMW 2002, I purchased a city bike. Three-speeds, small wheels, low crossbar for easy on-and-off. The latter much appreciated in emergencies. Rode to work most days, past Buckingham Palace, through Green Park, around Berkeley Square to the J. Walter Thompson office. If you think that riding a bicycle in city traffic is dangerous, you haven't faced anything until you've ridden in London. It's not the drivers, it's the speed required to keep up. Lance Armstrong would regard this as a substantial workout. All of which allows me to suggest you link to "The Guardian's motoring section", where regular contributor Matt Seaton writes weekly biking features. Set aside your prejudices and your muscle car keys and ride along with Matt as he comments on class warfare on the bike paths. (True confession: I only ride when the temps exceed 70 fahrenheit. I'm also president of the mythical Flatriders Society, a fraternity of bikers who avoid uphill climbs and do their best to keep the wind at their backs.)
