It wasn't all that long ago that what seemed like the entire Ferrari enterprise lined up to be pictured with the former Pope, His Holiness, John Paul II.

But with the ushering in of Pope Benedict XVI, the Vatican seems to have taken a less kindly shine to car companies whose rolling stock are used "as a means for outshining other people and arousing a feeling of envy." The Vatican issued the ten commandments for motoring recently, which has caused a ruckuss in parts of the world - including Maranello, Italy.

Ferrari General Manager Amedeo Felisa was quoted by Reuters as saying he didn't believe that buying a Ferrari was sinful. And he went on to explain that most Ferrari owners drive them not for vanity but for the love of driving (yeah, ok).

But with some reflection, a li'l bit of the devil did rise from Ferrari's GM. "You should commit at least one from time to time."
