The imperious Imperial: a hulking, suicide
-doored juggernaut of a Chrysler that premiered in concept back in 2006 was slated for production. That's before all the Inconvenient Truth global warming activists infiltrated the government which has now stepped up pressure on automakers to perform - or else. Chrysler has now officially shelved plans to build the giant Imperial. High gas prices were also sited behind the Detroit automaker's reasoning.
"Based on the current economic climate and based on stricter fuel efficiency regulations, we couldn't justify building a car like that." Chrysler's spokesman said.
Production for the Imperial would have begun in 2009. Such a shame.
