Maserati Birdcage in LA

A morsel from the LA Auto Show:
Maserati rolled out their stunning Birdcage 75th, an actual running concept car designed by Pininfarina in celebration of the auto design house's 75th anniversary. The Birdcage 75th is already old hat in Europe, where it won the Geneva Auto Show's best concept car award in 2005, and ran at Goodwood with Pink Floyd's Nick Mason behind the wheel later in the year. If you were one of the lucky ones at the Pebble Beach Concourse d'Elegance in 2005, the Birdcage was part of the Maserati display there, too. Now the hoi polloi have had their chance to see it in LA -- and it gathered crowds. Stats are hard to come by, but the Birdcage is powered by a 6 liter V12 that produces over 700 hp, which should propel the 3300 lb beauty to the double-ton with no problem.
I applaud Maserati and parent company Ferrari for bringing out this curvaceous beauty -- and for bringing back the curvaceous car show models in their slinky evening gowns
. I'm sure the Birdcage could have drawn a flock of onlookers on its own, but I didn't mind the models one bit.Permalink: Maserati Birdcage in LA
