Oops! AutoWeek Gets It Wrong > GM Says No To Cadillac Sixteen
Filed in archive by Gunnar Heinrich on March 28, 2007

The denial came down from the big man himself - GM Design Chief Bob Lutz - when a report from AutoWeek claimed to have quoted Mr. Lutz that GM was planning on making the Cadillac Sixteen supersedan a road-going reality.
"Sadly, that article was about 90 percent pure invention," Lutz said. "We have kicked off no such program."
Your humble publisher here @ 4DriversOnly was swept up in the blogosphere hype that ensued from last week's AutoWeek; parroting the story from Leftlanenews. My apologies for unknowingly leading you astray, dear reader.
That said, it is truly sad that the Sixteen will not come to pass. As America's first luxury marque, Cadillac has suffered for decades under a tarnished image that has only recently been on a slow path to restoration and market viability.
Without a halo car, Cadillac risks being just another name in a very, very competitive field of German and Japanese luxury carmakers.
