The partnership couldn't be more bizarre. Toyota joined hands with Fuji
Heavy Industries and Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. (that's the Subaru plant that manufactures Legacies, Tribecas, and Outbacks, oh my) to announce that they would invest $230 million in Subaru's Indiana operations so that in return the Subaru plant could churn out 100,000 new Camrys on an annual basis.Apparently, the latest four-door family saloon has proven such a hit that Toyota is scrambling to increasing production capacity to meet demand. Note to those laid-off by FoMoCo, Subaru's plant will need at maximum 1,000 more workers to help build the new Camry.
Camry production at Subaru of Indiana starts now.
