X Ready For Shooting?
Every day, during the walk to school with my daughter, we pass four Minis. All parked on the same block. Often on the same side of the street. So I figured it was the perfect car to start with as I teach which car is what. She can also identify body types: sedan, coupe, station wagon and pick-up truck. So I read on AutoWeek: Shooting Higher -- Jaguar considering design options for next-gen X-Type. The article mentions a "shooting brake" body style. Now I'm not a car guy from waaaaaay back and I guess I'm sort of a newbie, but, still, I've never heard of a shooting brake.
The term shooting brake often is used to describe a stylish wagon used for sporting purposes such as hunting. In the past, the Queen of England always had a shooting brake at her disposal.
Well, while I'm all for a stylish wagon, I can't say I'm for the Queen having a car full of gunslinks parked next to the palace. Anyway, Jaguar's gotta do something about the X-Type because, frankly, I hate it. The fix isn't just for me because, granted, I'm not in Jaguar's demographic (one with money), but because sales are down. And I guarantee they are not going back up without a radical change. Maybe the shooting brake idea is a good one. Although I don't look forward to explaining to my daughter why a shooting brake is called a shooting brake.
