How To Avoid Car Accidents

How To Avoid Car Accidents

The risks for auto accidents are very real. Years of experience may not mean safer driving but taking the basics of driving for granted.

Here are some reminders:

Double-double Stop Sign Check: When getting into a street from your driveway, always check the left and right sides of the street at least twice. The second look usually reveals an oncoming vehicle.

Clear the Rear: Check not only the right and left rear sides but also the straight rear end for clearance before backing out from a parking slot.

Don't be the First Out of the Gate: Wait at least two seconds before crossing an intersection after the red light has turned green.

Always Look Both Directions: When making a right turn, check the right side, the left, then the right again before actually taking the turn.

Low Tow: When pulling out into traffic, check the tail end of the crossing vehicle for anything that it is towing.

Check Your Blind Spot: Actually check your rearview mirror before changing lanes in traffic.

Trucks Really Can't See You: Take extra care when driving beside a truck because the driver usually doesn't see you.

Neighborhood Watch: Always, always drive slowly in neighborhoods. You never know when a child chasing a toy would suddenly come crossing the street.

Surely it won't take a lot to remember the above tips, but these will surely save us a lot of time and money by keeping us out of car accidents.
